Decks, Porches and Patios in Thompson's Station and Spring Hill

Thompson's Station and Spring Hill have grown fast, and a lot of the homes there are newer builds. That usually means a solid house with a back yard that hasn't been finished yet: a small concrete patio, a builder-grade deck or nothing at all. It's a great starting point for an outdoor living project.

Start from what the builder left

A small patio slab or deck often sits right where a covered porch should go. Sometimes it can be expanded or built over, and sometimes it's better to start fresh. We look at what's there during the on-site visit and tell you which makes more sense for your plans and budget.

Shade comes first

Newer neighborhoods often have young trees and back yards in full sun. A covered porch, screened porch or pergola does more for how often you use the space than almost anything else. Facing matters too: a west-facing yard gets hard afternoon sun, and a roof or a screened wall on that side makes evenings comfortable.

HOAs and architectural review

Most newer subdivisions in both towns have an HOA with design guidelines. Plan for their review as a step before the permit. We prepare designs that match your home's roof pitch, shingles and trim, which is usually what review boards look for. We work through their requirements with you, but approval is up to them.

Which county are you in?

Spring Hill sits in both Maury and Williamson counties, so your address decides which county you're in, and that can affect your permit path. Thompson's Station is in Williamson County. We confirm the right permit office for your address before plans are submitted, so you don't have to sort it out.

Projects that fit these homes well

  • A screened porch or covered porch over the existing patio area
  • A composite deck with metal railing for low upkeep
  • A paver or stamped-concrete patio with a fire pit, connected to the porch by a path
  • A pergola over a hot tub or seating area

We've taken on projects in both towns, and they sit well inside our service area of about 45 minutes from Franklin. If you have an AI rendering or a few saved photos of what you want, here's how we turn it into a plan.
